What was it about?
The goal of the project was to build a mobile measurement case that can be flexibly deployed in customer installations to capture measurement data locally offline – or online as soon as an internet connection is available. The case can be put into operation directly on site, or even sent to the customer by post, who can then connect their sensors via the provided external connectors independently.
Which systems were used?
At the heart of the measurement case is a Teltonika RUTX11 router, on which Symcon runs directly via a connected USB stick – which also provides sufficient storage space for the recorded measurement data. Signal acquisition is handled by Modbus-connected modules for digital and analog signals (0-10V and 0/4-20mA). An integrated ultrasonic flow measurement extends the measurement range. For connecting 1-Wire sensor technology, an ESERA module is available, which will serve as the preferred hardware platform for these measurement tasks going forward.
How was Symcon used?
Symcon handles the complete acquisition and storage of all measurement data directly on the Teltonika router. Whenever an internet connection is available, the logged data is automatically transferred to the master system via Sync Remote and backed up there. The customer can conveniently configure the sensor inputs themselves via the Symcon app using the provided credentials – or the configuration is handled remotely as soon as internet access is established.
Conclusion
The mobile measurement case enables flexible data acquisition in environments where no permanent network or mobile connectivity is available. Thanks to its compact design and ease of use, it can be shipped directly to customers, who can set it up independently. The seamless synchronisation with the central master system via Sync Remote ensures that all measurement data is securely backed up and ready for analysis – as soon as a connection is re-established.
