This page lists various projects that have been realized with the help of Symcon. The scope ranges from single-family homes with one meter and a few devices to large industrial plants with thousands of devices and many different systems.
Marina in Lübeck
In this project for The Newport, the energy consumption of berths was digitized using M-Bus meters in order to significantly simplify monitoring and billing. The central collection and recording of all meter data was carried out via M-Bus gateways and a SymBox.

Ford plant in Saarlouis
To save energy and detect leaks, a comprehensive monitoring system was implemented that records various parameters such as temperatures, compressed air and fill levels across all plants. Using the existing WAGO infrastructure, Symcon and IPSView now visualize real-time data and provide alerts in the event of unusual behavior such as open gates or pressure drops. The central monitoring has shortened response times, optimized processes and reduced compressed air consumption by over 70 percent in the long term.
Learn moreSymcon Motorhome
A solution for integrating the MPPT device, a Truma heating system and intelligent lighting control was implemented in a motorhome with a PV system and small battery storage. A minimalist Symcon version was installed on a Teltonika RUTX in order to map Internet connectivity and smart home control as energy-efficiently as possible in a single device.

Casinos in Schleswig-Holstein
In two modernized casinos in Schleswig-Holstein, Symcon serves as a central, vendor independant control system to create a modern club ambience. Symcon integrates systems such as ventilation, shading, audio, video and lighting and enables complex scenarios that can be easily operated by staff using a tablet. In addition, the daily routine is fully automated so that manual control is only necessary for special events.
Learn moreMunicipal utilities heat metering and energy meter reading
In this project, TraveNetz GmbH replaced the manual reading of heat and electricity meters at 18 CHP locations with an automated system. To this end, SymBoxes were installed to read decentralized M-Bus meters and send the recorded energy data hourly via MQTT to a central instance for monitoring, error analysis, and visualization.

Fully automated heating and energy optimization for KLW
By implementing a central, fully automated heating logic and intelligently using surplus PV electricity for air conditioning units, gas consumption was reduced by 50 percent while maintaining the same level of comfort. The Symcon middleware links various hardware systems such as Homematic and Tasmota to activate heat generators on demand and effectively prevent energy losses, for example through open doors. Thanks to comprehensive visualization and automation, building operation has changed from manual intervention to an efficient, purely monitoring activity.
Learn moreProject EnMA – Automation-Supported Energy Management at Universities
As part of the EnMA project, automation-supported energy management is being introduced at non-university universities of applied sciences in Baden-Württemberg. Symcon serves as the central node, collecting meter data via M-Bus, Modbus TCP and BACnet and archiving it in a vendor-independent SQL database. The project runs in 4 phases until 2030 and will eventually cover 40 universities.

Hübelisolar – 102 Apartment Owners Realise Large Solar Installation Together
102 apartment owners of the Hübeli residential complex in Emmen jointly realised one of the largest privately initiated photovoltaic installations in Central Switzerland, spanning the roofs of twelve apartment buildings. Symcon serves as the cross-building energy management system, optimising self-consumption for all 102 parties – including EV charging stations, heat pumps, and real-time display via the Symcon App and stairwell tablets.
Learn moreSmart Home with WeberLogic 2.0
In this reference, a new premium smart home solution was established as a platform together with WeberHaus and added to their portfolio. The SymBox and Symcon form the heart of the control centre. Connected to the Eltako Series 14, all building technology components are controlled.
