This guide will help you to connect a Siemens OZW772 web Server with your computer as quickly and easily to create the conditions to cover with IP-Symcon a variety of applications and to visualize them. The web server OZW allows remote operation and monitoring of equipment over the Web. They are available in four versions: for the connection of one, four, 16 or 250 KNX devices of the Synco assortment 700, Synco RXB/RXL, room thermostats RDG/RDF/RDU and the Synco living domestic control center QAX9.
All KNX devices that are compatible with the Siemens OZW772 web server, are also compatible with IP-Symcon and can be integrated.
Remove the device from its packaging and place it in a location that is suitable for your purposes. Make sure at the installation that the device can be connected easily via a LAN cable to the PC.
The device may only be used in building services and only for the described applications by a specialist. The local regulations must be (installation etc.) observed.
Before the OZW is connected to the PC, you should have connected your KNX devices correctly.
Now connect the device with a network cable to the network and plug it to the power supply.
Also a connection to the PC via USB is possible, if the internet link is provided that the RNDIS driver can be installed automatically when you connect via USB (if the Microsoft online update service is enabled). A manually installation of the driver is also possible.
If the OZW is connected correctly and you are using a DHCP server, then the OZW is now connected to the local network. (The DHCP server automatically takes over the address assignment for the network users, so you do not need to worry about nothing else.)
Now click on the Start icon of your Windows PC, then click "Computer" and then on "Network." The OZW now appears under "Other Devices" as "OZW772 ....".
Now click on "OZW772 ....". This will open a window. In the lower section of this window you will find the IP address of the OZWs. The IP address you copy now as address into your browser, so that a Siemens webpage opens. During the first login is:
"User name" = "Administrator" and "Password" = "Password".
The password should be changed after the first login. Note case sensitive. After the first login the web server language is English, but can be changed easily. On the left side you will find all KNX devices that are connected to the OZW. Here you can change some settings.
Do not use a DHCP server, then the IP address of OZWs at delivery is 192.168.251.1 OZWs (USB: 192.168.250.1 (fixed)).
That's a wrap! Now you can finally turn to IP-Symcon.
After installation the software by using your user name and your keys (via e-mail from IP-Symcon), you can now connect the OZW with IP-Symcon.
To do this, open the IP-Symcon console (on your desktop). Then connect to one of the IP-Symcon server.
Then click on "Create Configuration" and go to "HomeMatic Configuration", click twice on "next" once on "OK" and then on the gear (bottom left).
This opens the configuration of the „OZW Splitters“. Here already the default values are preset by Siemens. But if you have changed something (e.g. the IP address or the password), it is fundamentally important that the IP address of the OZW is used and the username and password is corresponding to current settings. Then click "Apply". You can then close the view. In the OZW configurator you click on "Search." Then the OZW and all connected KNX devices appear.
The ID on the left is the identification number, which is found on the back of each device. In the case of a large number of installed KNX devices a satisfactory assignment and configuration is ensured.
The ID on the right is the assigned IP-Symcon InstanceID. This is unique and unchangeable.
Now click on each device one by one and then press "Create".
The devices are now operated.
After clicking on a selected KNX device and then clicking on the "Configure" button, you can also select exactly what you want to display later in WebFront.
To do this, click on the plus and then click on the box in front of each statement that are to be displayed in the WebFront. This feature will work even if you double-click directly on a selected device in the object tree. (These devices are to find in the object tree under splitter instances.) After this configuration, you can close the view.
Once you selected the desired data points, you can open them by using "Configure" and set a polling interval. This is necessary because IP-Symcon must interrogate the values of the OZW actively.
A query takes about 800ms. So you can for example query 13 data points every 10 seconds. If your intervals are too short, the queries are processed sequentially and delayed.
Chose in the IP-Symcon management console the tab "Welcome". Now click under "WebFront" on "Open WebFront". Your browser will open the interface of IP-Symcon and you can read out and control your KNX devices comfortably via a PC (with the apps available in the store also via tablet PC or smartphone).
Congratulations! The first steps for an automated home are done.
